Forget Hollywood - if it’s famous film locations you’re after then pack your bags for Yorkshire. The region has a long history of appearing on the big screen (the cinema, not your new 90” plasma) as the setting for both fiction and historical drama.

Who could forget the splendour of Brideshead, the Marchmain family’s ancestral home? Certainly not the thousands of visitors to Castle Howard, near York, which was used in both the 1981 TV series and 2008 film as the setting for Brideshead.
