By: M.L. Excited about filling the recently empty walls, local painters, Judy Salinsky out of San Marcos, is an award-winning artist who strives to interject her positive, creative attitude and optimism into all her artistic endeavors. Having spent a number of years studying dance, Judy incorporates many of those principles into her art enabling her to incorporate movement into her work and thus allowing the images to explode off the canvas. Barbara Blair from Oceanside, a former interior designer with a long-term interest in wellness and the effect that the built environment has on people, my artistic focus is in creating images that provide the viewer with an escape from the stresses of everyday life, and that promote peace of mind. Artwork that is joyful, soothing, calming or inspiring has a healing value, and is very much needed in today's stressful world. Island hopping by Barbara Blair Lisa Blake from Carlsbad a photographer. She states” the only true abiding pleasure in life is to give joy to others” and this is reflected in her work as a photographer. She has a genuine inner creativity that produces beautiful, heartfelt images. Terry Oshrin a mosaic artist from Encinitas has a wonderful exhibit of mosaic “geckos “for sale. I "love" doing mosaics and it has become my passion, but don't place me in one category because custom lamps, resin tables, geckos and more have now peaked my interest. Who knows what I will do tomorrow? Art will remain for the duration of Thursdays on the Coast, The Experience. Artists will be holding receptions monthly and art demonstrations. The concept is not entirely new, but it is the first in the City of Carlsbad’s, downtown Village, to extend a helping hand to artists who are always seeking public exposure with their bodies of work in an environment that welcomes them and the public. The art will be on display and for sale for approximately 7 months. An artist reception will be scheduled for April 28th to coincide with the returning Thursday on the Coast, in the Village of Carlsbad, between the hours of 5:30 – 8:30pm, where business and the art will remain open for your shopping enjoyment. Come visit and enjoy the art 7 days a week and contact your favorite artist for details on their works. We are still looking for another artists to fill the walls, so if you have any questions, contact the Art Coordinator, Cheryl Ehlers, Event Manager for the Carlsbad Village Association. at 760-519-1551.
