By: filmworkers Produced by Nashville’s Deaton Flanigen Productions, the video shows behind-the-scenes footage of a recording session. Rascal Flatts arrives at the studio where they find Justin Bieber working on a new song, they join him in a practice jam, then they all move to a large sound stage where Bieber and Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox trade vocals in a soaring duet. Filmworkers’ Little, who has edited videos for many top recording artists, adds that he lets the music guide the cut. “I like to make the edit an instrument that complements the track,” he explains. “But I try to do so without calling attention to the edit, so that it works smoothly with the music.” Colorist Rodney Williams worked with directors Robert Deaton and George Flanigen, and cinematographer Vance Burberry to set the final look for the video. Williams says their aim was to keep it fresh and natural, while also making the artists look great. “It has nice contrast; it’s a clean look with a little bit of steely coolness,” Williams notes. “The imagery was very consistent and the lighting was great, so once we found the look, we applied it to nearly every set up.” Williams observes that Filmworkers is used to working on projects for high profile music artists, but having two superstar caliber artists in one video made this project special. “It was very exciting for all of us,” he says. # # # Filmworkers is located at 1006 17th Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37212.
