Healthy Chocolate Power to Help CURE Childhood Cancer

The Xocai (“show-sigh”) Atlanta Healthy Chocolate Team is rallying to help find a CURE for childhood cancer by participating in Lauren’s Run on Sunday, May 1, 2011.  Many on the Atlanta Xocai Team have been touched by cancer, and some by childhood cancer.  Libby Patrick, a Xocai distributor, is a childhood cancer survivor.  Caroline King's niece, Florence White, is a two-time childhood cancer survivor.  Many people have been touched by cancer, but it is especially devastating when a child is diagnosed with the disease.
 
The Xocai Atlanta Team’s efforts to raise awareness and money for childhood cancer research is led by Tricia Holder.  She said, “We believe strongly in giving back to the community and are excited to have a team participating in Lauren's Run.”   All of the money raised goes directly to researching childhood cancers.

Lauren’s Run, founded in 1992 in memory of Lauren Zagoria, a precious two-year old from Atlanta with big, golden curls, and continuing also in memory of Lauren Kochman, a beautiful 3 year old with big brown eyes who lost her battle with neuroblastoma just before the first Lauren’s Run took place. CURE is a non-profit organization dedicated to conquering childhood cancer through research, education, and support of patients and their families. Mission: CURE Childhood Cancer was founded in 1975 by parents who knew firsthand the heartbreak and fear of having a child with cancer. They set out to improve the odds for these kids and help their families face the challenge. Due to research, much progress has been made since that time. The survival rate for children with cancer has increased dramatically to its current rate of nearly eight out of ten. Best of all, researchers feel they will discover a cure in our lifetime. Until then, there is much to be done, and that is where CURE comes in. They believe childhood cancer can be cured. CURE's mission includes funding important research and providing support programs to help children and their families deal with this dreadful disease.

If you are not a walker or runner or cannot attend the race, you can still participate as a Phantom Runner. A t-shirt will be mailed to you after race day.
