We, The Watched by Adam Bender Now on Kindle

A new dystopian novel about surveillance and propaganda by Capitol Hill reporter Adam Bender

May 2, 2011 - PRLog -- WASHINGTON, DC  – Washington journalist Adam Bender announced he has published his debut novel We, The Watched on the Amazon.com Kindle store.

The dystopian novel follows a 20-something man who wakes up without memory in a nation that administers a Watched List of its own citizens. He meets people who accept invasive surveillance by the government and forced uniformity by the church as necessary safeguards for protecting the homeland. The amnesiac makes strides toward getting his life back together, but the fresh perspective granted by his rebirth soon proves to be more a curse than a gift. He learns quickly that opposition is heresy—and punishable by death.

Bender is an American University alumnus who now reports from Capitol Hill on telecom and Internet matters for Communications Daily. Bender has reported on court and congressional hearings about illegal government surveillance and other technology-fueled abuses of power. His debut novel takes a fresh literary look at these current issues.

"There's action, romance, and social commentary woven into a brilliant story with an amazing plot twist near the end," said book critic David Broughton in the American Chronicle. "It's science fiction in the way that Orwell's 1984 or Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury dystopian novels are considered science fiction ... The writing is nearly on par with these geniuses of the written word."
