May 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Virginia Kenshinkai is pleased to present our Sixth Annual Swordfest and an outstanding opportunity to reach Mixed Art Edged Weaponry, Japanese Community, and East | West Sword Art practitioners and enthusiasts 13–15 May 2011. Swordfest is an annual event held  by the Virginia Kenshinkai at Capital Area Budokai in Alexandria Virginia (Metropolitan Washington Region). This year we are also featuring training on Friday May 13th and Sunday May 15th for nominal fees.

Attendees are welcome to wear traditional dress at this "indoor" (rain or shine) event! And, we welcome photographers and film-makers interested in capturing this year’s National and International Sword Artisans. These "STARS" of the East and West Mixed Edged Weaponry are anxious to demo for you! Don't  miss this opportunity to view these expert craftsmen and women (as well as some beginning students, because we do promote our students). Swordfest also features crafts, trades people and merchants as well as good food and all around good people.

As a 501(c)(3), Virginia Kenshinkai promotes appreciation of Japanese culture and history, provides student training and education and sponsors trips to international and national venues for certifications. We are reaching out to invite you to participate in the education and enhancement of community awareness for these unique arts and participants. This season we are accepting donations to aid our friends in Japan in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami. These funds are being remitted to affiliate organizations within Japan to use at their discretion in restoration and renewal. A Virginia Kenshinkai donation box is available as well.

Along with our demonstrations (as stated above) are training sessions on Friday May 13th and Sunday May 15th with both hands-on and observational attendee capability. Feel free to reach out to us for a training schedule to ensure your seat at "nominal" rates ($10.00 to $20.00 per hour-long session).
