By: Premiere Executive Business Services Betty C. Shoup was born in Urbana, Ohio in a small college town on March 18, 1931. At that time, small town hospitals did not have incubators for premature babies, and they put her in a cotton lined shoe box and a hundred watt light bulb for heat. Her parents Forrest and Florence Critzer named her Betty Louise and later they moved to Piqua, Ohio. Ms. Shoup spent many summers at her father's old home near Urbana, Ohio. Her sister Jacqueline Bella came along later and they would visit their grandparents at their farm. Betty’s Grandparent’ Ms. Shoup’s uncle Vernon was in the Navy as a Sea Bee during WWII and operated a big dirt shovel to make landings for planes in the Pacific. Her father and mother moved to Piquia, Ohio and he became an engineer on the rail road. He was on the Pennsylvania Railroad and Betty used to ride the engine once in a while. He had runs to Indiana and many other places. Betty’s father worked out of Bradford, Ohio and Urbana, Ohio as well. Bradford, Ohio still has the old round house depot with all the elections of railroad memorabilia. Betty became Mrs. Shoup when she married Marvin Shoup in 1949. They gave birth to a girl Rebecca Lynne and a boy Andrew Brian. They both graduated from Troy, Ohio High School and both attended college at Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio. Rebecca Lynne became a music instructor, as for Andrew, he obtained a B.A. in Business and currently works at a large financial firm in New York. End
