NC Bed Bug Seminar to Address Bed Bug Infestation in NC

Raleigh-based Triangle Pest Control will convene the NC Bed Bug Seminar on June 8 in RTP. The meeting’s panel of bed bug experts will address the latest issues in dealing with bed bug parasites in NC.

May 16, 2011 - PRLog -- A panel of pest experts will discuss the growing issue of bed bug infestation in North Carolina at the NC Bed Bug Seminar - "The Bed Bug Invasion," a one-of-a-kind educational event hosted by Raleigh bed bug extermination company Triangle Pest Control.  The seminar, which takes place June 8, 2011, at the Hilton Raleigh-Durham Airport in Research Triangle Park, will focus on giving business owners in the Raleigh-Durham-Cary-Chapel Hill region an inside look at bed bugs and bed bug management.

"Businesses that have never dealt with bed bugs may not know what a nightmare infestation can be," says Donnie Shelton, President & CEO of Triangle Pest Control.  "The NC Bed Bug Seminar is designed to help business owners understand the true threat that bed bugs pose while also giving them useful information about minimizing infestation risk."

Speakers and sessions slated for the NC Bed Bug Seminar include:
* Dr. Michael Waldvogal - Bed bugs: The next global pandemic
Haven’t dealt with bed bugs yet?  Chances are, you will.  Dr. Michael Waldvogal, Extension Associate Professor of Entomology at NC State University and Director of the NCSU Structural Pest Management Training and Research Facility, will tell how to protect your business and your reputation from these parasites.

* Dr. Jung Wook Kim - Basic Bed Bug Biology

The biology of bed bugs is more complex than you might think. Their behavior favors moving from one place to another, both biologically and as “hitch-hikers.” Issues such as pesticide resistance and transfer make this insect almost elusive. In this session, Dr. Jung Kim, bed bug specialist for the NC Public Health Pest Management Section of the NC Department of Environment & Natural Resources, will describe why these insects are so difficult to manage.

* Jeremiah Smith - Early Bed Bug Detection Methods
The difficulty in detecting bed bugs allows for the establishment of large populations in a relatively short period of time. In this session, Jeremiah Smith, Bed Bug K9 Scent Detection Handler with Triangle Pest Control, will tell about novel detection methods, including the use of canines and alternative monitoring devices, to successfully identify active infestations and the importance of routine inspections.

* Donnie Shelton - Effective bed bug prevention & treatment strategies that work

As researchers discover more about the biology of bed bugs, novel treatment technologies are emerging as alternatives to traditional methods and are being developed into practical applications for use in the field. In this session, Donnie Shelton, CEO of Triangle Pest Control, will discuss a few of these applied technologies, including extreme temperatures, mechanical removal, and how you can adapt methods into your bed bug treatment protocols.
