We believe that by supporting and educating our community in the importance of taking care of yourself, it will lead to longer lives and a stronger and more unified community,” commented Jose R. Barahona, owner of American Pollo, the developer and operator of seven (7) Pollo Campero restaurants in the Washington DC area, which include: Herndon and Baileys Crossroads in Virginia; Langley Park, Wheaton, Gaithersburg and Laurel in Maryland; and Columbia Heights in Washington, DC. Nueva Vida’s executive director, Larisa Caicedo, added “At Nueva Vida, we recognized that regular medical check-ups are key factors that play an important role in the early detection for women at risk of the illness and for survivors. One of our main goals is to empower Latina women to make informed decisions that will create a positive impact in their lives and ensure that no Latina experience cancer alone. To achieve this goal, we need the help of organizations such as Pollo Campero, who understand and care about the needs of the Hispanic community. We are proud and honored to initiate this amazing partnership with Pollo Campero.” About Nueva Vida Nueva Vida is a survivor-driven cancer care organization, nonprofit, 501(c)3, that provides a variety of culturally sensitive cancer support services for Latina women in the Washington, DC metropolitan areas, Baltimore, and Richmond.
