By: Emilee Magma Announces Silicon One Initiative – Brings Together Superior Technology, Design Expertise and Customers’ Creativity to Deliver Profit-Driving Differentiated Silicon Bangalore, India June 6, 2011 -- Magma® Design Automation , today launched Silicon One, an initiative intended to bring focus to making silicon profitable for customers by providing differentiated solutions and technologies that address business imperatives facing semiconductor makers today – time to market, product differentiation, cost, power and performance. Magma is debuting its solution-oriented Silicon One offerings at the 48th annual Design Automation Conference, opening today in San Diego. "Some EDA vendors attempt to be all things to all people. They try to lock customers into complete end-to-end flows, but it simply isn’t possible for one company to do everything well – there is no ‘one size fits all’ in EDA,” said Rajeev Madhavan, Magma’s chairman and chief executive officer. “By comparison, Magma is focused on making silicon profitable for our customers. We concentrate on providing differentiated solutions and technologies that address all of the main business issues – time to market, product differentiation, cost, power, and performance – that chip makers are currently facing when dealing with the convergence of digital, analog, and memory systems in a single chip. “We aim to be the best at what we do, and we collaborate with other companies – who might even be competitors – who are the best at what they do,” Madhavan added. Silicon One’s initial focus is on five types of devices that are key to electronic products that are most prevalent today: • ASIC/ASSP: • Analog/ • Memory: • Processing Cores: High-performance cores are the building blocks of any application or graphic processing chip today. The entire system performance is often limited by how fast these processing engines can run. Also, the system’s power consumption has great dependencies with regard to how low power these cores can be. • System- “In our early days, Magma was perceived as being the world’s most innovative RTL-to-GDSII EDA company,” Madhavan said. “Later, we began to be perceived as one of the world’s most innovative analog and mixed-signal companies. Now, we have emerged as the world’s most innovative provider of silicon solutions for ASIC/ASSPs, SoCs, high-performance cores, memories and AMS designs.” See Silicon One at DAC To learn more about Silicon One visit Magma in booth 1743 at the 48th Design Automation Conference, June 6-8 in the San Diego Convention Center. Magma will offer demos of its complete line of technology-leading solutions that streamline customization of high-performance core designs, facilitate implementation of large SoCs, automate analog/mixed- About Magma Top semiconductor makers worldwide use Magma’s electronic design automation (EDA) software to produce chips for electronic applications including tablet computing devices, mobile devices such as smartphones, electronic games, digital video, networking, military/aerospace and memory.
