Celebrities And Olympic Athletes Team Up To Support Speedo's Swim Amnesty In Aid Of Cancer Research

July 1, 2011 - PRLog -- All Athletes and TV personalities will all be donating their swimming costumes to inspire the nation to follow suit and for each tonne of swimwear and goggles donated, Speedo will donate £1,000.00 to Cancer Research UK.

Athletes include: Rebecca Adlington, Conrad Williams, Kerri Anne Payne, Liam Tancock
TV Personalities include: Melanie C, Chloe Madeley, Jodie Kidd, Tom Lister, Kate Walsh, Liz Lock, Lucy Verasamy, Michelle Heaton and Emma Crosby

Melanie C says “This is a great cause, I am glad that my old swimming costume will be recycled but also raise loads of money for Cancer Research. It would be great to see everybody joining in and donating last season’s swimwear to help this fantastic cause. (It’s also a great excuse to buy a new cossie!).”

The Speedo Swim Amnesty is being run at The British Gas Big Dip urban swim festival and promises to be one of the family entertainment highlights of the summer. The British Gas Big Dip, together with the Speedo Swim Amnesty, will be In London (Clapham Common, June 28th – July 17th) and then on to Manchester in August.

Swimmers wishing to take part in the Speedo Swim Amnesty can bring any unwanted item of men’s, women’s or children’s swimwear or goggles along to the Speedo Shop situated within the Big Dip arena, on any of the event days. For each item of men’s/boy’s swimwear, participants will receive a £5.00 discount off the cost of a new item of swimwear at the Speedo Big Dip Shop. For each items of women’s/girl’s swimwear donated, they will receive a £10.00 discount. In addition unwanted goggles can be donated in return for a special £5 price on a selected goggle (whilst stocks last).
