Follow on Google News | San Diego team prepares for red carpet premiere of medical mission documentaryMan's Best Media and Med4Nicaragua proudly present the premiere of 33in3, a documentary following a medical mission team that completed 33 surgeries in 3 days in Nicaragua, the second poorest country in the western hemisphere.
By: Man's Best Media 33in3, which will premiere at the Carlsbad Village Theatre, reveals an in-depth and powerful look at Med4Nicaragua’ Med4Nicaragua was founded by Dr. Christine Brody and Valishia Savage in early 2010. The pair met on a non-medical mission trip to Nicaragua through their church and Savage said they “saw the need to return” when they discovered El Samiritano Clinic. The clinic was built with a hope that doctors would travel to Nicaragua to perform surgeries for those who were unable to afford them. There is a large income disparity in Nicaragua which makes it so most Nicaraguan citizens cannot afford basic healthcare, Brody said. “The prevalent health issues in Nicaragua are every issue,” she said. “Basic health care is lacking, and if you need anything, you have to be able to afford it. And if you can’t afford your surgery, you can’t get it.” Brody and Savage pioneered a medical mission trip in 2010 and completed seven surgeries at El Samaritano Clinic. In April of this year, a larger Med4Nicaragua team completed the 33 surgeries that the documentary focuses on. 33in3 is set up chronologically and follows the mission from start to finish. The film was created by Loghan Call, CEO and Executive Producer of Man’s Best Media, who went to Nicaragua with the team. “I feel like it will give all of the people who’ve helped and supported Med4Nicaragua a better sense of what our team was able to accomplish,” “It also provides an inside look into the operating room, which you normally wouldn’t be able to have in the United States,” he added. “It’s my hope that by watching this film, viewers will be able to have a new found appreciation for the medical field.” The film will premiere on Friday, August 12 at the Carlsbad Village Theatre. Doors open for a red carpet event at 7 p.m. and the screening will begin at 8 p.m. There will be an after party at Caldo Pomodoro following the screening. Tickets are $12 presale or $15 at the door. One hundred percent of proceeds from the premiere will benefit future Med4Nicaragua mission trips. Tickets are available through a Med4Nicaragua team member or at the box office by calling 760-720-2460. Tickets will be available for purchase online as soon as possible.
