July 20, 2011 - PRLog -- “There is a lack of databases worldwide that contain country specific data that can be translated properly into another language,” explains William Mayall, Co-founder of Opengeocode.org.  “NAOG brings the solution to the public domain with an updated release of the Countries of the World (COW) geospatial database."

Now free for public use, the COW database contains 54 distinct fields of data for the 248 countries, territories and dependencies (top-level administrative divisions) recognized by the United Nations, including ISO official country names in English, French, Spanish and Russian.

The new release has incorporated Google Maps into the COW database. In addition, users now have access to information on a country land mass, nationalities, and web URLs to government portals and national office of statistics.

“There is a compelling need in the geolocation industry for a one-stop source of all public domain geolocation data for point-of-interest (POI) of administrative boundaries, zip codes, significant buildings and corresponding commercial and government enterprises throughout North America,” says Mr. Wischnofski, Co-founder Opengeocode.org.  “The ADNA database contains 26 distinct fields of data for 1st level administrative divisions of countries in North America.”

The NAOG database can be used in conjunction with a wide array of location-aware solutions and services, including store locators, distance calculators, product routing and delivery, real-time check-in services, and location specific advertisement targeting.

Access to the COW database using text-based search form can be found at:

Access to the COW database as a CSV download can be found at:

Access to the entire NAOG database can be obtained by direct contact to the company.
NAOG is excited to continue the succession of product releases as it further compiles
the vast array of public domain geolocation data.

OpenGeoCode.Org is dedicated to collecting and combining geolocation data for single source
access of public domain information for use in research and development of geospatial
technologies and opportunities.
