July 21, 2011 - PRLog -- SAVANNAH, GA - The Alzheimer’s Association – Coastal Georgia Chapter is proud to announce Jane Vaden Thacher, President and Dealer Operator for Vaden Automotive Group, as the 2011 Honorary Chair for the Savannah Walk to End Alzheimer’s to be held on Saturday, October 15, in Savannah’s Johnson Square.

Thacher joins the likes of Maria Shriver who both have a passion for bringing awareness to the devastating disease.

“I am sincerely honored to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.  This horrible disease isn't always recognized for what it is ... a life-changing diagnosis for thousands of Georgia families. It touched our family and me personally so much that I want to do everything I can to help secure the funds necessary to find a cure.  I hope to see everyone on October 15th,” said Thacher.

According to the recently released Generation Alzheimer’s report, 10 million baby boomers will develop Alzheimer’s disease.  By mid-century that number could skyrocket to as high as 16 million.  It is no longer their parents and grandparents who have Alzheimer’s, it’s them.  The time to raise fund to find a cure is now.

“It’s an honor to have Jane come forward and join us this year as we reach out to more people across our community to join forces to end Alzheimer’s,” said Development Director, Jami Murray.

The Savannah Walk to End Alzheimer’s will step off on Saturday, October 15, from Johnson Square. For more information, call 912-920-2231 or  www.alz.org/georgiawalk.org.
