Helen has a long list of achievements including World Champs winner in 2008, Podium at Hyde Park WCS in 2010 and 2x London Triathlon winner (2009 and 2010). HOLLIE AVIL Event: Triathlon DOB: 12/04/1990 Born: Northampton Lives: Bugbrooke, Northamptonshire Club: Northampton Swimming Club, Rugby and Northampton Athletics Club, Beauvais Triathlon Club, Loughborough University Coach: Ben Bright Hollie Avil is a GB triathlete with accolades including European and world junior triathlon champion in 2007 (the youngest triathlete to podium at a World Cup) BOA’s triathlete of the year and was also shortlisted for BBC young sportsperson of the year. KERI-ANNE PAYNE Event: 400m Individual Medley, 10km Open Water DOB: 9/12/87 Born: Johannesburg, South Africa Lives: Stockport Club: Stockport Metro Coach: Sean Kelly Keri-anne Payne is an Olympic Silver Medal winner in the 10km Open Water event and Bronze Commonwealth medallist in the 400m Individual Medley. Keri-anne was crowned world champion at the 2009 World Championships in Rome and is currently studying journalism. REBECCA ADDLINGTON Event: Freestyle DOB: 17/2/89 Born: Nottingham Lives: Nottingham Club: Nova Centurion Coach: Bill Furniss Rebecca Adlington, OBE, is a double Olympic gold medallist and a British, Commonwealth, European and Olympic record holder. Rebecca specialises in the 400m and 800m freestyle events and is Great Britain’s most successful Olympic swimmer in 100 years. LIAM TANCOCK Event: Backstroke DOB: 7/5/85 Born: Exeter Lives: Loughborough Club: Loughborough University Coach: Ben Titley Liam Tancock is a GB Backstroker, specialising in the 50m and 100m events and 200m Individual Medley. Liam is a world record breaker and a sports science student at Loughborough University. JENNY MEADOWS Event: 800m DOB: 17/4/81 Born: Wigan Lives: Wigan Club: Wigan AC Coach: Trevor Painter Jenny Meadows is a GB 800m runner who has competed at European, World and Olympic level and is a world bronze medalist. A graduate of Liverpool Hope University with a degree in English with Physical Education, Jenny is coached by husband Trevor Painter. WILLIAM SHARMAN Event: Hurdles DOB: 12/9/84 Born: Lagos, Nigeria Lives: Nottingham Club: Belgrave Harriers Coach: Jerzy Maciukiewicz William Sharman announced his arrival on the world stage with a fourth place finish in the 110m final at the World Athletics Championships – becoming the fifth fastest British hurdler of all time in the process. www.youtube.com/ CONRAD WILLIAMS Event: 60m, 100m 400m DOB: 20/3/81 Born: Kingston, Jamaica Lives: London Club: Belgrave Harriers Coach: Linford Christie Mitchum athlete Conrad Williams is a GB athlete specialising in the 400m event. Conrad ran the opening leg as Great Britain won 4x400m silver at the World Championships in Berlin in 2009. TOM PARSONS Event: High Jump DOB: 5/5/84 Lives: Birmingham Club: Birchfield Harriers Coach: Fuzz Ahmed Mitchum athlete Tom Parsons is a GB High Jumper who has competed at National, European, Commonwealth and Olympic level. KAREN PICKERING MBE Event: Swimming DOB: 19/12/71 Born: Brighton Lives: London Karen Pickering MBE was a GB swimmer from 1986 to 2005 and has a trophy cabinet that includes 8 World Championship medals (4 gold), 14 European Championship medals, 38 National Championship titles, and a Commonwealth Games medal haul of 13 including 4 Gold. Karen won more major championship medals for Britain than any other female swimmer and now runs her very successful swimming school, is a motivational speaker, compares for the BBC and Channel 4 and is an authority on athlete testing. JAMES DeGALE MBE Event: Boxing DOB: 03/02/86 Born: London Lives: London James DeGale brought home Olympic Gold from at the 2008 Olympic Games in Shanghai and hasn’t looked back since. Following his great win, DeGale turned professional in 2008 after agreeing a deal with promoter Frank Warren. James is a southpaw fighter and is known for being quite a character in and out of the ring. He became the British Super-Middleweight champion last year but lost to bitter rival George Groves in May of this year on a points decision. James is training hard at present and still has his sights firmly set on becoming a world champion in the next couple of years.
