Dworkin started the Sphinx Organization to provide opportunities for Black and Latino string players in addition to advocating for the arts. The Sphinx Organization is known for its annual string competition, which showcases some of nation's most exceptional minority string players. Beginning in 1996 with a very small budget, the organization is certainly a success story.
