Some of the work is from the artist's Italian beach series:

"Il Africano"  depicts an African vendor with merchandise walking on beach. Abstract figures surround him, mostly young girls. The painting has bold warm colors, mostly an orange background with multi color towels and garments carried by the vendor.

"View of Mount Pisgah" is a plein air painting of a favorite mountain park in Eugene, Oregon .  The blue and blue-violet sky with floating clouds contrasts with the warm earth colors of the park with soft greens painted wet in wet in plein air.

"Oregon Coastal Range"  is a painting is based on sketches made in Plein air but the painting is done in the studio. A Romantic landscape style based on the Italian veduta tradition: distant views with dramatic skies. Calligraphic brushwork in the sky. A majestic vista of the Coastal Mountain Range of Oregon. This painting is complex and sophisticated, akin to an opera piece by Wagner or Verdi. Few landscapists have produced works both modern in brushwork and abstract forms yet naturalistic enough to be an articulation of the Italian veduta tradition.

"Uomo in Milan" is a young Italian man in Milano.  Painted in bold brushstrokes it shows a handome dandy from the south of Italy wearing a camel hair colored coat. The face and body are illuminated  by the night lights of Milan.  He has a confident yet distant gaze.

"Abstract Landscape, Italy" (also titled, "Wave Hands Like Clouds" is a  Marche landscape from 2010. This work is experimental in the way the cloud masses are formed with large billow shapes and dramatic movement. The coming togther of two distant mountain ranges suggests a valley in the foreground and a distant ascent to the horizon. This work is in keeping with the artists Taoist beliefs regarding the "valley spirit" or feminine principle as the source of life and beauty. the spiritualized light in the clouds links earth to heavens, this linkage is thje source of chi or spiuritual energy. Hanging this beautiful oil in yoiur home will activate your own chi and harmonies latent in ones subconscious.

"Lungomare" is another from the Italian beach series: a figurative piece with some abstraction. . It depicts the Martinsicuro on the Adriatic coast of Italy. This time the scene spreads out horizontally with the action going from right to left. A young woman in a bikini is part of a small group surrounding a vertical umbrella while bathers splash in the sea and others walk along the beach line. To the far right a child is part of another umbrella group. The painting depicts the dynamic of beach life in the brilliant yellow light of the summer.

"Italian Vinyard" is an abstract landscape. Umbrian countryside with vineyard and warm, earth tones in th foreground. A bright summer day with yellow flowers.

"La principessa della festa" is the most complex work in the exhibit.  The painting must speak for itself. It is based on the concept of the Oribundis. Here a beautiful Italian princess sports a renaissance hat that turns into a serpent, representing the Kundalini life force or erotic energy.  The Inge like refinement of the face jumps out at the viewer from the bright flat yellow background.  The multicolor pastel of her dress is Picasso like in its design.

"The Grand Canal, Venice"  is typical of the grand manner veduta tradition of Italy. Here a distant view of the canal in earth colors and a bright misty sky reveals the romantic and soft forms of the canal with its boats and aging villas.  The composition is horizontal so the eye sweeps across the canvas from left to right starting from the most distant turn of the canal at the far left of the canvas.  The warm orange, red, and sienna colors of the buildings are sketched in "color macchia" style to provide a strong structure to the scene.
