Tribute To Mohammad Rafi At AAFT

Mohammad Rafi was one of the greatest singers of Indian Film Industry who has contributed around 5000 songs to Bollywood.

Aug. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- Glowing tributes were paid to the perennial gold voice of Hindi cinema Mohammad Rafi on his 21st death anniversary at the Asian Academy Of Film and Television. Speaking on this occasion the director Sandeep Marwah said that the present generation of film makers should be grateful because of legacy they have inherited.

Rafi claimed to have recorded 28,000 songs in 11 Indian languages between 1944 and April 1980. Rafi has sung 4,516 Hindi film songs, 112 non-Hindi film songs, and 328 private (non-film) songs.  His singing career spanned about 40 years, and his songs ranged from classical numbers to patriotic songs, sad lamentations to highly romantic numbers, qawwalis to ghazals and bhajans, and from slow melancholic tunes to fast and melodious fun filled songs

Dean cinema Ashok Tyagi recalled the contribution of Rafi Sahab in making actors from Dilip Kumar to Amitabh Bachchan by lending his voice. Joint Director R.K.Singh and Dean Om Gupta of Asian School Media studies also spoke about him. The faculty and students of different schools of Marwah Studios were present on this occasion.
