Measure your pulling power with an iPhone app this weekend

Aug. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Smartphone applications are on the rise, noticeably so within the Apple Stores Games and Entertainment categories. It’s within the Entertainment arena that we’ve seen a number of applications to measure users ‘attractiveness’ emerge.

Developers have gone into much detail within blogs and articles about the ‘Golden Ratio’ software, explaining how particular points on the face are measured to attain an attractiveness score.

As the development company of one of the most recent ‘attractiveness measures’ for the iPhone, Oh!Meter- the pulling power indicator,  http://www.ventutec.com/ said ‘These apps are designed for fun and amusement, they provide users with an entertaining, social application that they can use with friends or colleagues’.

Last week, Wyvern Radio presenter Tom Newitt tested the Oh!Meter live on air, by measuring the pulling power of some of the hottest celebrities. Using images of Angelina Jolie and Wayne Rooney he waited as their individual Oh scores were returned. It came as no shock to listeners that Angelina scored 10 Ohs whilst Rooney scored just 3.

So, it looks like the technology within these apps gives a pretty accurate reading of measurable ‘attractiveness’.  One of the latest reviews submitted by a user of the Oh!Meter said ‘Accurate and fun - Pretty accurate face Recognition and gorgeous design. Good fun with colleagues, Friends and family..’

So, tonight when you hit the town don’t just ask your reflection in the mirror how hot you look, why not try asking your iPhone?

Remember though, that when all is said and done, it’s not all about statistical measures, true beauty really still lies in the eye of the beholder. What apps like this can provide us with is a great confidence boost just before hitting the dance floor.
