Directed by Screen Actors guild recipient Endre Hules (Angels and Demons, 7, Appollo 13), and photographed by Academy Award winning cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond (You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Deer Hunter), love and politics in "The Maiden Danced to Death" unfold to the vivacious rhythm of folkloric Hungarian dance.

The film stars Hules alongside Deborah Kara Unger, (Silent Hill, The Game), Stephen McHattie, (2012, 300, The Fountain), Gil Bellows, (Weatherman, The Shawshank Redemtion) and Zsolt Laszlo (The Eagle, Fateless).

"The talented and acclaimed cast and crew made this film both visually intelligent as well as dramatically striking.  We are thrilled to be presenting it for its Canadian premiere, at the Montreal World Film Festival" says Dan Shannon, principal at ID Communications, the films international sales agent.

The film is the first Canada-Hungary-Slovenian co-production, between Quiet Revolution Pictures (Canada), Cinema-Film (Hungary), and Casa Blanca Productions (Slovenia).

"Leaving  the place one grew up in - wheher its a small town, or the country, or even a religious or ideological community - means severing ties to a certain degree.  It changes us, and we view what we left behind from a different perspective.  It also makes us strange and suspicious - somewhat of a traitor - in the eyes of those who stayed.  This is universal" said writer-director Endre Hules, of the films Eurimage winning screenplay.

The film screens at The Quartier Latin cinema 14 on Thursday Aug 25, at 9:40 pm. The director, the producer and several actors will be on hand for the Canadian premiere.
