Rugby Captain Lewis Moody Assesses England’s Rugby World Cup Chances

Sept. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- In an exclusive interview with Sportsvibe, the leading sports entertainment website, England rugby captain Lewis Moody has spoken of his pride at leading Martin Johnson’s men in New Zealand and how he believes they are still a work in progress.

Moody, who is expected to play in England’s second group game against Georgia on Sunday, believes that his side is constantly improving, but did not want to draw comparisons with the triumphant team of 2003 or the 2007 side which shocked many by making the final.

“As a team we are constantly learning, you can’t compare us to either of those World Cup teams, we are where we are. We have had some great performances over the past 18 months, but equally we have had some disappointing ones as well.”

Speaking at his home in Bath, Moody went on to explain that the England team has a great blend of youth and experience and that he is consistently reminded of the pressure that comes with captaining the side.

“We have been blessed with a group of great young talent coming through at the same time, while the senior players are also there to guide the ship. It is the perfect blend.

“But the country expects you to do well. Expectations are always high and we have a good track record in this competition. That brings pressure, but you deal with it.”
