By: St Louis Society for the Blind & Visually Impaired Ms. McCutcheon was previously Director of Operations and, also, Director of Development for KidSmart Tools for Learning, a not-for-profit organization that has distributed more than $20 million in school supplies to more than 45,000 economically disadvantaged children in greater St. Louis. Before then Ms. McCutcheon was Director of Annual Giving for the Epworth Children and Family Services organization and, prior to then, Director of Development for the Guardian Angel Settlement Association. Early in her career, Ms. McCutcheon was Director of Development with the Life Skills Foundation. Ms. McCutcheon Society President David Ekin, ACSW, LCSW, said, “Christy McCutcheon’s talent, skills and depth of successful experience with not-for-profit enterprises is a major plus for our organization as the Society enters our second century of providing programs and services for children, adults and senior citizens who are blind or visually impaired. We welcome Christy’s enthusiasm and commitment for the Society’s mission.” Ms. McCutcheon is a member of The Association of Fund Raising Professionals and the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO). Founded in 1911, the Society is a registered 501 C (3) not-for-profit organization. The Society enhances independence, empowers individuals and enriches the lives of people who are blind and visually impaired and their families. It provides older adults who are newly visually impaired or blind due to age-related eye conditions with home-based services, specialized services and community activities. It also renders services to school-age students in Illinois and Missouri. It is the only agency of its kind serving greater St. Louis, and the second oldest of its kind west of the Mississippi River. On Saturday, September 17, 2011, the Society will host a Family Festival at Shaw Park in Clayton.
