Rasta Taco Announces Annual World Champion Taco Challenge for April 2012

Sept. 22, 2011 - PRLog -- ORANGE COUNTY, CALIF. - Summer is ending and you’ve got just over six months to start preparing for the First Annual World Champion Taco Challenge.

On April 14, 2012, presenting sponsors Rasta Taco, South Coast Collection, and Greer’s OC are bringing together the best chefs, culinary students and backyard grillers to compete for the title of World Champion Taco Challenge winner at a yet to be determined location in Orange County. The event will unite foodies, while raising funds for charities.

Preparations are already underway and participation is open to the public. Presenting sponsor Rasta Taco - Southern California’s original, made-to-order, on site taco cart catering company – encourages residents to enter as part of a team and participation is open to culinary students as well. However, taco challengers cannot represent a company name, but must compete as themselves.

Ten mobile, on site taco carts with grills will be provided for chefs as they prepare their own recipes during a 45-minute block of time.

Tacos will be partially judged on the following criteria:
1. Presentation
2. Taste
3. Uniqueness
4. Originality/use of ingredients
5. Easiness of preparation at home

World Champion Taco Challenge is seeking celebrity judges, chefs, restaurant owners and other local notable individuals to participate in judging and crowning the champion.

A small fee is required to compete; a portion of the proceeds will benefit local charities.

Cooks will be allowed to sell their own goods, if applicable, during their 45-minute preparation period.

The World Champion Taco Challenge welcomes Southern California restaurants, purveyors and any businesses related to the food and beverage industry to participate.
