Sept. 26, 2011 - PRLog -- JobStreet.com, the No. 1 Job Site in the country, mounted the biggest job fair ever—the JobGantic Career Fair 2011—last August 12 and 13 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.

More than 23,000 people formed long lines that snaked around the premiere exhibition center in the country—making it the job fair with the MOST JOBSEEKERS who showed up for a job fair. 41% of these were jobseekers pre-registered even weeks before the event. The fair’s pre-event registration records earlier showed over 65,000 have expressed their intention of coming to the event.
A
midst the throngs of jobseekers during the first day, no less than President Benigno Aquino III graced the ribbon cutting ceremony together with Sec. Rosalinda Baldoz of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Director- General Joel Villanueva of the Technical Education and Skills Development Administration (TESDA). Ms. Mary Grace Colet, JobStreet.com’s country manager toured them around the hundreds of recruiting booths.

Dubbed as the job fair with the most number of job vacancies and the most number of companies one can ever imagine, a total of 158,600 job vacancies in various fields of specializations from over 250 local employers and overseas recruitment agencies, were up for grabs at the leading job portal’s major event this year.

Yoda Buyco, JobStreet.com’s marketing director says, “JobStreet.com through the JobGantic Career Fair offered the MOST JOBS—more than 100,000 jobs are for those seeking for local employment and over 56,000 were for overseas employment. Indeed, we have more than enough jobs to choose from if we had 26,000 people at the event.”
JobStreet.com also boasted that the event had the MOST COMPANIES including the top ones in the country. These companies include the most preferred employers by jobseekers such as the Ayala Group of Companies, San Miguel Corporation, and JP Morgan and Chase, among others.

“JobGantic Career Fair had a good mix of employers and recruitment firms with 75% or 190 participating companies hiring for local employment while 25% or 60 others are for overseas employment,” adds Buyco. “The presence of conglomerates (group of companies) added prestige to local employment and the BPOs were the hope of many others because they contributed to more than 50% of the local jobs at the fair….”
Meanwhile, Buyco also noted that JobStreet.com ensured overseas job opportunities at the fair because of the growing number of Filipinos who would like to seek greener pastures outside of the country. “We cannot control the increasing number of Filipinos who want to seek employment overseas, that’s why we had our overseas recruitment client-firms” says Buyco.

JobStreet.com has been organizing job fairs since 2006.  The JobSolutely Cool! Career Fair was its signature event starting 2008 to 2010, having only 60 companies hiring and 12,000 walk-in applicants.  This year, the Jobgantic Career fair has quadrupled these numbers, making it the most widely successful event of its kind in the country.
