Oct. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- On Tuesday October 11th ,The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and Atlanta Pride will join forces at Spelman College in Atlanta for Speak Out for Equality: Celebrating National Coming Out Day. The event runs from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Manley College Center, Lower Concourse and Patio.

Hip hop duo KIN4LIFE will join Nefertiti and the nefTunes to perform the anti-bullying anthem "Lone Ranger", written as a show of support and solidarity in response to attacks and bullying targeting LGBTQ youth. "Lone Ranger" is available for free download at http://www.limelinx.com/files/e09064543c58aa4fb0d23002db69d063.

At the height of the recent media attention focused on the plight of gay teens and  the growing phenomenon of cyber-bullying, KIN4LIFE enlisted the help of  musician/poet/songwriter Nefertiti Akinyela of the nefTunes and singer/songwriter Tora Torres to record "Lone Ranger". LGBTQ activists and YouTube personalities Pookz and DZ, known as Studology 101, joined the effort  by illuminating listeners with the sobering facts:

-Lesbian, gay, and bisexual youth are up to four times more likely to attempt suicide than their heterosexual peers.
-More than 1/3 of LGBT youth report having made a suicide attempt.
-Nearly half of young transgender people have seriously thought about taking their lives and one quarter report having made a suicide attempt.
- Almost all transgender students have been verbally harassed (e.g., called names or threatened) in the past year at school because of their sexual orientation and gender expression.
-It is estimated that between 20 and 40 percent of all homeless youth identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and/or transgender.

“Lone Ranger” has had more than 5500 downloads since the Christmas 2010 release. Plans are underway to use the song as rallying point for a national tour of speaking engagements and events featuring KIN4LIFE, to ensure that the issue is not forgotten once the media attention wanes.

The activities for Speak Out for Equality will also include an exhibition fair featuring area LGBT-friendly community organizations and corporations, a performance by Red Summer, spoken word artists and an outdoor dance party with DJ Platinum.
