Oct. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- LAS VEGAS, NV --  The Clark County Education Association (CCEA), the union that represents the more than 17,000 teachers in Clark County public schools, welcomes Mr. John Vellardita as its executive director.

Under the leadership of past executive directors and visionary leaders, CCEA has long been an advocate for creating great public schools for every child, advocating for teachers working conditions, salaries & benefits, and pioneering such innovative programs as Empowerment Schools and the “grow our own teachers” Student to Teacher Enlistment Program (STEP).

Vellardita, who begins his employment Monday, October 17, 2011, brings to CCEA a proven record in negotiations, membership organizing, and union activism.  He strongly believes in CCEA’s member-driven organizational framework and looks forward to leading the Association from a service to an organizing model.  Vellardita will direct CCEA’s efforts through the arduous arbitration process with the Clark County School District.

“We are confident that Mr. Vellardita’s experience and vision will lead the Clark County Education Association into a new advocacy era,” stated CCEA President Ruben Murillo.
