Local event planner hosts donation drive for Atlanta women’s shelter

Nov. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- She cries herself to sleep at night, the pain from the bruises on her body and the pain of feeling helpless. She loves him but she is afraid of him and afraid to leave him. She finds the courage to seek sanctuary at a local women’s shelter where her and her children can be safe from the harsh reality that she could have been the next victim of domestic violence gone awry.

This is the story for many women and children impacted by domestic violence in our world today. It is through the help of local shelters, such as the Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence, volunteers, and people who support the fight against domestic violence that these women are able to live for the better.

“The fight against domestic violence is a cause dear to my heart. Being a child of domestic violence, I know I am where I am because of my mother’s strength and the help from charities and people who are against domestic violence,” states Shawntel, Creative Director for SOA Event Concepts, a local event planning company based out of metro Atlanta, GA.

Shawntel is hosting a donation drive for the Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence. She will be accepting donated items to create and deliver care packages to the women housed in the center through-out the month of November. Items needed include hair, beauty, and feminine products; books of inspiration and wisdom; as well as towels and wash cloths. Other items the center requests include old cell phones, canned and non-perishable foods.

The Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence, initiated in 1986, is a local Atlanta charity that provides a safe haven for women and children impacted by domestic violence.
