Nov. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- ROLLA, Mo., November 8, 2011 -- Upon researching veterinary recommended flea treatments for canines, a dog owner was shocked to discover that her favorite brand of spot on flea treatment - Frontline Plus for Dogs - has been linked to several seizures in dogs and other bad side effects in dogs and people.  Owner of three dogs, Kathy Kochanzki, has created a website warning people of the dangers of this and other chemical flea treatments, visit http://www.frontlineplusfordogsv.com/ for more details.

Fleas and ticks are a serious problem for dog owners, particularly those who live in the countryside and near animals that carry the disease-laden ticks and fleas and fighting them is often a difficult task. Most vets still recommend the use of Frontline Plus, Advantix, Bio Spot and similar products, but are ignoring or unaware of the potential for these products not only to cause seizures and death in dogs, but also to cause acute poisoning and permanently affect brain development in young children.

The NRDC explains that children exposed to organophosphates are 3 times more likely to need urgent hospital care, 5 times more likely to be admitted to a critical care unit and 4 times more likely to die or suffer a life threatening sickness or become permanently disabled, than children who were exposed to other pesticides.

Further research by Kochanzki revealed that in 2000 the Natural Resources Defence Council (NRDC) estimated that 26 deaths of animal workers have been caused by organophosphate flea treatments.

Merial (manufacturers of Frontline and Frontline Plus) hotly deny that their products have any links to dog seizures and other severe side effects, and many people use them without problems, but in addition to the evidence from the NRDC, there are reams of dog owners experiences online indicating that seizures began quickly after using the product, and in the majority of cases stopped or dramatically improved upon discontinuing use and so many are asking is Frontline safe for dogs?

"I was very shocked to discover that the flea and tick control products I had been using on my three dogs could have harmed or even killed them," says website owner Kochanzki, "and I'm relieved that I don't have young children in the house. After discovering the dangers of these products that are easily available on our shelves, I had to create a website to educate people and many are now asking is Frontline safe?" You can find out more about this here http://www.frontlineplusfordogsv.com/is-frontline-plus-sa... .

Kochanzki's website Frontline Plus for Dogs provides detailed information on the chemicals in various flea treatments, links to scientific research and personal experiences of dog owners, and symptoms of organophosphate poisoning for dog owners to watch out for.
