University Fraternities and Sororities among Nation’s Best The 25 National Awards – Higher GPAs Revealed in Recent Report TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA — November 15, 2011 — The announcement describing the national achievements of the University’s fraternities and sororities was made last week by the office of Greek Life and sent via email to University and community leaders. The report included information that described the performance of fraternities and sororities across several criteria. Most notably: • 25 Fraternity and Sorority Chapters won National Awards • Higher GPAs than Men’s and Women’s overall average • Fraternity and Sorority members raised over $531,000 for Charities • Volunteered 63,000 community service hours • Over 160 student organizations led by Greek members • Fraternity and sorority membership grew 11% over last year : “It’s really nice to hear such great news, said Seminole Greek Alumni Foundation, Vice-President, Doug Russell. “In addition to the national recognition of the entire university system, many of our individual chapters are recognized as the very best in the country,” said Russell. “The young men and women at Florida State University are extremely sharp – very strong academically, in leadership roles or volunteers in virtually every aspect of campus community.” About the Seminole Greek Alumni Foundation: The Seminole Greek Alumni Foundation, Inc.
