Dec. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- After several months of inactivity, a cappella foursome The Kinky Kwartet is set to make a triumphant return in 2012 with four shows in Eastern Africa and a toe-tapping new album.

The band's new release, "Tempura and Kidney Stones," is currently slated for March 6, 2012; the track listing is given below:

1. For The Longest Time (Billy Joel cover)
2. Lean On Me (Bill Withers cover)
3. The PokéRAP (Pokémon cover)
4. Drift Away (Dobie Gray cover)
5. Stand By Me (Ben E. King cover)
6. I Heard It Through The Grapevine (Marvin Gaye cover)
7. Little Saint Nick (Beach Boys cover)
8. "Doug" Theme Song (Nickelodeon cover)

Post-production work has already begun on a few songs, including "For The Longest Time" and "Lean On Me"- both of which were leftover tracks from the "Enter the Cactus" recording sessions. Also, the Billy Joel cover is the much-anticipated lead single, set for a January iTunes release followed by a mid-February 7" record single release. During the holiday season, the band is set to spend time in the studio completing the other songs mentioned above.

Furthermore, the band is set to travel to Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia and make a special hometown performance next March to promote their new album at the venues listed below:

MARCH 9.........SENECA HS TALENT SHOW..............TABERNACLE, NJ
MARCH 18.......FEST'HORN............................................DJIBOUTI, DJIBOUTI

The African concerts will mark the group's second appearance at the continent after a previous mini-tour in the Summer of 2011. And as graduates of Seneca High School, the band members feel the Talent Show performance will be one of their most impassioned, meaningful shows yet.

HISTORY
The band formed in 2009, initially under the name "The Kwartet." The initial band, which backed Indonesian jazz great Bubi Chen on a recording, featured Jeff Horner, Dean Rottau, Menotti Aristone, and Nick Rubino. A two-year hiatus put them out of the public spotlight, but a successful 2011 (marked by an African tour and release of "Enter The Cactus") brought them back into the limelight. Today, the renamed "Kinky Kwartet" features the aforementioned band members, with the exception of Billy Ford, who replaced Dean Rottau in 2011.

Despite the strong New Jersey ties, Ivy-Russo Publishing (named for esteemed calculus instructor Stephanie Russo and the Ivy League) has distributed press releases for bands and snack companies in Utah, Arkansas, and Bulgaria.
