One-Week Trial Memberships in January at East Ventura County YMCAs

Dec. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- THOUSAND OAKS, CALIF.--Residents in east Ventura County can tour their local Y and receive a one-week, full-use YMCA trial membership. The trial memberships are available at the Miller Family YMCA of Newbury Park, the Conejo Valley YMCA and the Simi Family YMCA. Residents can participate in workout classes, swim in the Ys' heated indoor pools and attend youth classes.
   The Conejo Valley YMCA (serving Thousand Oaks, Moorpark and Santa Rosa Valley) will hold its open house week January 2 through January 7 where the community can take part in swim evaluations, zumba and other workouts classes and family programs. On Saturday, January 7, there will be a Community Health Fair from 8 a.m. to noon with vendors on hand to answer questions and perform health screenings. Facility tours will be available.
   The Simi Valley Y's open house takes place Saturday, January 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents can receive free blood pressure, resting heart rate and body fat tests, take part in group exercise and water aerobics classes and sign up for a week of trial membership.

   "The YMCA is more than a gym. It’s a positive community gathering spot," says Katie Beck, executive director at the Miller Family YMCA. "At the YMCA, you can lose weight, tone up, reduce stress, spend time with your family, make friends, provide value-based activities for your children and just feel better in general." The Miller Family Y the open house week is January 16 through the 22.

   "January is the perfect time to refocus our attention on living a healthy lifestyle, from eating and exercise habits to creating and strengthening relationships," says Erin Pierik, Conejo Valley YMCA executive director.
