Reach the World Announces the First Recipient of the Cronkite Award for Excellence

Jan. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- On March 6, 2012, Reach the World will have the honor of awarding the Cronkite Award for Excellence in Exploration and Journalism, coined in honor of their long time Advisory Board Member, Mr. Walter Cronkite, for the first time to Richard Wiese.  The inaugural award will be given at RTW’s 12th Annual Benefit at the Yale Club on March 6, 2012.  For more information on how to attend, please visit http://www.rtw.charityhappenings.org

About Richard Wiese

Richard Wiese is a highly respected outdoorsman and explorer. In 2002, he became the youngest president in The Explorers Club’s hundred-year history. He has hosted many nationally-seen television shows, most recently Exploration with Richard Wiese, which can be viewed around the world. He has just completed filming a special series in Ethiopia with the BBC and Discovery called Hell on Earth about the hottest place on Earth. Wiese is currently the host of the ABC television series Born to Explore.

An important motivation for Wiese is inspiring a passion in young people for discovery and a love of the outdoors. He is the author of a book titled Born to Explore for young adventurers.
