Jan. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Apad.tv reports that Tonight, the Ainol Novo 7 Aurora will arrive for review tonight. I have seen the much sought after and also just released, Novo7 Elf. I must say that I am very impressed with this tablet PC.

There are a many things I like about these cheap Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich tablets, but there are also a few things I don't really care for. Let's compare the two tablets first.

The Novo Elf was released on Friday January 13. Novo 7 Aurora will be released today  and ships on Monday, January 16.

According to Apad.tv,

"The Ainol Novo 7 Aurora is the 1st 7-inch tablet in the world to boast IPS capacitive multi-touch technology. What is the difference between the Elf and the Aurora?  Well both run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. Both have a 1.2GHz Allwinner Many CORE CPU. Both also has HDMI out, comes with a free HDMI cable, has Bluetooth Share and Web Camera."

The Aurora, like the Elf does not have Google Android Market pre-installed. It will take some Guru's on forums to first Root, then release a market fix. The sole difference is the Aurora has an IPS capacitive screen. IPS techonology is the same techology that the Apple iPad 2's capacitive screen adopts."

The Elf and the Aurora were released just in time for this year's Las Vegas CES fair. While Engadget picked up the review of the Ainovo Paladin, they did not mention the Elf. The Elf shocked the underground Android community as it was released by Ainol without any pre-announcements.

Many people did not believe the Elf leak, broken by Apad.tv, and many said it was really the Swordman, Advanced II, and even the Wizard.  In the end, the Elf was really just the Elf.

Even though the Novo 7 Elf's sceen is not IPS I still find it ultra responsive and am not sure the price increase for the Aurora justifies me spending the exptra $25 for the screen upgrade.

The one thing I am disappointed about is that there is no official Android Market. Another thing that bothers me is that many of the icons are in Chinese meaning that I can't use them. There are alternative application markets and the Aurora is not MIPS so I can download lots of the things I like.

Anyone that is not a DIY person should probably not buy a Chinese Android device as you have to "Learn it by yourself." Luckily, if you have the time and patience, you can learn a lot from people on Android tablet forums like Apad.tv.

I can wait to get my hands on the Aurora. Until I do, feel free to check out the official Aurora review thread here and possibly pre-order the aurora so you can share your own Aurora experience:
