Follow on Google News | ![]() State’s first SAAB chapter: United in Legacy, Moving forward in ExcellenceSAAB Student African American Brotherhood, Minnesota’s first chapter at MCTC will hold a “Kick-Off” week to introduce the community, students and educators the newest innovation in education to assist Black males in college.
By: IBNN News (@IBNNNEWS) Minneapolis, MN (Source: MCTC/SAAB/B2B/ Under the theme, “United in Legacy, Moving forward in Excellence,” SAAB/Brother2Brother is a national organization designed to improve the quality and outcome of education by developing scholarship, accountability, commitment, success, determination, character, community, and identity in student member participants. MCTC’s SAAB/Brother2Brother chapter is the first of its kind in Minnesota. “The mission of the MCTC chapter of SAAB/Brother2Brother is to embrace and support MCTC African-American male students and all other MCTC students by supporting successful academic progress and character development so that every member achieves program completion while strengthening their roles as engaged members of the MCTC community,” says Jesse Mason, advisor. The following events are free and open to the public: “United in Legacy, Moving forward in Excellence” Monday, Jan. 30 SAAB Spoken Word “Black Men: Past, Present and Future” Featuring E.G. Bailey 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., T Building Plaza (with multiple sessions) Tuesday, Jan. 31 SAAB Open House: Work and history of SAAB since January 2010 8 a.m. to Noon, Kopp Hall, K.3370 (light refreshments will be served) Wednesday, Feb. 1 Documentary on African American Males “Education, Struggle and Success: Educating Black Males in Public Spaces 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Helland Fine Arts Center, F.1400 Thursday, Feb. 2 SAAB/B2B Faculty and Staff Appreciation Tea/Roast 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., T Building, T.1400 & T.1200 Friday, Feb. 3 Black Men in America 2 (Teach-IN): Unity, Healing and Moving Forward With Alex Pate, Lissa Jones, Sen.
