Follow on Google News | Chef Irie Spices up the Coconut Grove Arts Festival’s Culinary Pavilion this Sunday Feb 19th at 4.The Coconut Grove Arts Festival will be held this weekend from Sat. February 18th to Mon. February 20th. Participating for his 6th year, at the main stage in the Culinary Pavilion, will be Island favorite and celebrity private chef Hugh Sinclair.
Chef Irie’s passion for food is evident in his creations, as no one ever walks away disappointed in any way once they taste his hand. Food has so inspired this Jamaican grown Johnson and Wales protégé that he translates this inspiration into words on his blog, “The Inspired Chef”. Also inspired by food’s artistic properties are the festival creators. So inspired in fact, an inspiration further encouraged by a 2011 juried local artist who submitted an art piece made of sugar, this year’s arts festival now boasts a new category. A category to showcase food called Edible Arts has been added to the festival. “I am especially honored to participate in this year’s Coconut Grove Arts Festival as it is a labor of love for me. Join me as I dedicate this year’s presentation to 'Gary Cuica'. Gary lived and breathed food; he made it fun. His passion for food led him to make food an integral part of his life as well as that of the lives of those he touched", said Irie. He added, “Gary was responsible for getting me to participate in this wonderful event 6 years ago, his presence this year will be sorely missed”. About Chef Irie Spice Hugh Sinclair, a.k.a. Chef Irie Spice, “The Global Culinary Architect”, is the executive chef of Irie Spice Inc.-Personal Chef & Catering Services providing services to the tri-county area of South East Florida. Chef Hugh hails from the Caribbean Island of Jamaica, where he grew up on a sugar plantation. Before relocating to the sunshine state, Hugh migrated with his family to New York. He completed his college career at the Univ. of Florida earning a BS from the renowned School of Architecture. Hugh always had a passion for cooking and after working several years as an architect, the yearning to create culinary masterpieces vs. aesthetic architecture overtook his desires.
