FamiliesNortheast Parent & Child Society has been awarded a $400,000 Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) grant to implement Intensive Aftercare Prevention Program services for families in Rensselaer County.
By: Eugene White Northeast will apply its award-winning IAPP model, currently utilized in eight counties, to compliment family services currently offered by Commission on Economic Opportunity for the Greater Capital Region (CEO). “In addition to bringing needed funding and resources into Rensselaer County,” said Northeast Chief Executive Officer John Henley, “this interagency partnership enables us to provide vastly more efficient services, eliminate redundancies and effectively serve more families in need.” The program, which will also include Parent Education and Consultation (PECP) and Family Group Decision Making (PECP) services, will target families referred by the Rensselaer County Department of Social Services at risk of having children placed into the foster care system. “Our highly effective IAPP model keeps families together and enables children to grow up in a safe, nurturing environment at a fraction of the cost of foster care placement,” said Henley. # # # About Northeast Parent and Child Society: Northeast Parent & Child Society provides a full array of residential, special education, family foster care, children’s mental health and family preservation programs.
