Feb. 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Why throw $300 down the drain?

The Surefire Commander series flashlight is popular among police and rescue workers, so when Surefire discontinued its B90 rechargeable battery and essentially made the flashlight obsolete, it affected many people.  And at a price point of more than $300, it’s hard to just throw away a perfectly good - and high performing - piece of equipment.  That’s why a Michigan inventor created an aftermarket replacement b90 battery for the Commander flashlight and is now the only supplier offering it for sale.

The inventor created the replacement battery because he relies on the Commander flashlight for his own work in the trades industry.  When his battery finally failed to recharge and he needed a replacement, he was disappointed to learn the batteries had not only been discontinued, but were unavailable anywhere.  “It’s a solid flashlight that works really well,” he explains.  “I couldn’t just throw it away.  Once I found out many of my police friends were in the same position, I knew I needed to design my own replacement for them.”
