March 7, 2012 - PRLog -- The Timeshare Association (Timeshare Owners and Committees), also known as TATOC, has published the ninth issue of its Sharetime magazine for all timeshare owners, TATOC members and affiliates.

The 32-page Sharetime magazine is yet again packed with a range of interesting industry and holiday news and stories for timeshare owners, the committees who represent them and industry professionals.

This edition of the magazine addresses many of the issues facing the industry. There is an article by TATOC director Geoff Chapman on the effects of the European Timeshare Directive a year after all E.U. members should have implemented it. While there have been many articles from an industry perspective, Geoff considers the data taken from the TATOC consumer helpline to show that there is some good news – and also some not so good results over the past twelve months.

There is a preview of the upcoming TATOC conference taking place this weekend at the Park Royal Hotel in Warrington. This includes a full list of speakers and a summary of events. You’ll also find details on our five new resort members and our latest affiliate Confused About Timeshare.

If you are looking for a positive story from the industry, read Joan Kearney’s story about her travels to Mexico, South Africa and India all possible due to her timeshare ownership at Club Tarahal in Tenerife and exchange membership.

Barnsdale Hall is a real success story mixing together timeshare, hotels and a range of other services. Russell Waters, resort manager, explains how the resort is handling the difficult economic conditions with new marketing programmes, working closely with the resort committee and having an open mind.

Lee Woodward from the Timeshare Channel explains why a new vision is required when handling owners who wish to sell their timeshare or can no longer use their ownership. And you can read TATOC board member Fred Crouch’s report on his recent visit to a Christel House school in South Africa

We hear the interesting views of Sarah Smith, resort manager for the Osborne Club in Torquay who believes it is essential that everyone needs to pass on a positive message about timeshare. We also find what life is like in a typical day for commercial manager Peter Lydford from Travel and Leisure Group.

Sharetime columnists Lisa Ann Shreier, the timeshare crusader and LiveShareTravel’s Terry Lee share their thoughts on timeshare and, as part of TATOC’s support of owner committees we have some management tips they might find helpful. Finally we get to know more about Simon Jackson, the man behind the business at Macdonald Resorts.

“What a way to welcome spring 2012 with a new issue of Sharetime. It is a great read and a positive reflection of all that is good in the industry,” said Mr Harry Taylor, TATOC executive chairman. “The magazine is now available to read online and we have committed funds to printing and distributing copies to our members and affiliates. We would like to thank affiliates RCI, Worldwide Timeshare Hypermarket, Club La Costa and Aroma, who have sponsored the website and advertised with us.”

Sharetime magazine is available to read online in digital format from its own dedicated website. To view the magazine, visit http://www.sharetimemagazine.com.

Printed copies of the magazine will also be available this time and distributed to TATOC members, resort managers and affiliates. Additional copies can also be provided for affiliates if they would like to distribute the magazine at their resorts.

The Timeshare Association (Timeshare Owners and Committees), known as TATOC, was formed in 1989. There are 92 member resorts located across Europe giving TATOC access to over 350,000 timeshare-owning families.

The aim of Sharetime magazine is to provide a positive image of the industry to both timeshare owners and the general public. Sharetime magazine supports the efforts of TATOC to promote timeshare, protect consumers from scammers and to secure the future of a legitimate industry for its members to continue to enjoy. The new digital format allows this message to be spread even further.

Background information:

Formed in 1989 TATOC is the only elected consumer association representing the interests of timeshare owners in Europe.  There are over 90 member resorts located across Europe giving TATOC access to over 350,000 timeshare-owning families.

The mission of TATOC is to safeguard and enhance the timeshare holiday experience for existing and prospective users and to be the voice of owners. In recent years, TATOC has focused not only on increasing the membership base but also raising the profile of the Association, establishing TATOC as the recognised voice of the timeshare consumer and an informed point of contact. The Association is now a regular contributor to the consumer press and works closely with the UK’s Trading Standards offices, the police and other authorities.
