By: Docmiami Prior to the screening the audience enjoyed a Whitney Houston Tribute by youth singers “The Voices of Inspiration” Through intimate scenes shot on a Sony video camera in the 1970s, Jamaican filmmaker Esther Anderson artfully constructed the union between Reggae and Rasta that launched the international career and renowned image of Bob Marley and The Wailers. Revisiting that formative time, she reveals to what degree her original vision set in motion the radical change of perception and consciousness both musically and socially around the world. # # # DocMiami is a non-profit entity formed to launch the annual DocMiami Film Festival and events. This celebration of documentary filmmaking at a global level nestled in sunny South Florida brings together emerging documentary filmmakers, students’ grades 6-12, as well as film and music enthusiasts in a truly bohemian, one-of-a-kind event. DocMiami’s music concerts benefit the non-profit, Brick by Brick Tanzania, Inc. Performers such as: Tito Puente, Jr. , Nigerian Prince Emmanuel Abiodun Aderele, “The Godfather of Mexican Rhythm and Blues” Javier Batiz, Canned Heat’s Fito de la Parra, Kiki Sanchez , Eloy “Rali Guanche, spoken word poet Rich Ferguson, Bo Blount, Fito Espinola, Paco Aguilera and Maikel Santalla contributed their talents during the 2011 event to assist school children in Tanzania whom are combating not only poverty but also a drought, malaria and the AIDS crisis.
