The Lonesome Valley Ramblers launch Kickstarter campaign to fund debut CD

Hyattsville-based band turns to fans to support studio recording

March 23, 2012 - PRLog -- The Lonesome Valley Ramblers, a Hyattsville, MD, based band performing a unique blend of Gospel-influenced roots rock and country folk music, has turned to Kickstarter.com, a funding platform for creative projects, to record their debut 5-song CD of original music.

Kickstarter backers pledge to support specific projects but don't pay for anything until the successful completion of the campaign. If pledges do not meet or exceed the goal by the deadline, the project is not funded.

"We've been together two years, performing locally in such venues as New Deal Cafe in Greenbelt, MD, and Mulligan's Grill and Pub in College Park, MD," said lead singer and songwriter, Curt Lucas. "We have a wealth of original material and we'd like to expand our reach. Kickstarter affords us an opportunity to do just that, taking an older model of patron support of the arts and updating it to fit the world we live in today."

The Ramblers kicked off their Kickstarter campaign with a spirited March 22 performance at Mulligan's in College Park. Earlier in the month they performed at Wallace Presbyterian church in College Park in support of the University Park PTA's annual Silent Auction fundraiser.

The band's Kickstarter project goal is $3,000 with a deadline of April 28, 2012. They will record at Airshow studios in Takoma Park, MD in May. Visit http://www.curtlucas.com for details.
