Green Cemetery Holds Monthly Restoration Work Days Aimed At Restoring Forest

Penn Forest is Pennsylvania’s first exclusively green cemetery and is committed to creating a beautiful burial park where nature is at the forefront. The mission of Penn Forest is to provide ecologically friendly burial.
 
March 23, 2012 - PRLog -- Penn Forest Natural Burial Park, Pennsylvania’s first exclusively green cemetery, announced it will hold monthly workdays aimed at restoring the 32-acre piece of land owned by the cemetery.

“Restoring the forest is a main component to delivering our mission,” said Pete McQuillin, cemetery manager and co-founder.  “The workdays offer an opportunity for individuals and groups to participate in volunteer work, while at the same time restoring the forest for future generations.”

Volunteers who participate will help with removing invasive plant species, clearing brush and debris, and mulching newly formed trails and pathways.  

March Work Day
Saturday, March 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Rain date: March 31 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

April Work Day
Saturday, April 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Rain date: April 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

May Work Day
Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Rain date: May 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
