SARTONK Creates New York State Boxing Hall of Fame Induction Belt

April 5, 2012 - PRLog -- Sunday, April 1st brought the boxing community an over-due gift with the Inaugural New York State Boxing Hall of Fame (NYSBHOF) Induction Ceremony. The twenty-year dream of Tony Mazzarella came to fruition when 500 guests celebrated the induction of twenty distinguished boxing veterans. This list included "Sugar" Ray Robinson, Emile Griffith, Mike Tyson, Harold Lederman, and Jimmy Glen among fellow boxing super-stars.  

“What made this event special was that it wasn’t just about boxers. It included trainers, cutmen, TV personalities, and family members of inductees. This was about the boxing family,” reflected Bob Duffy, President of the NYSBHOF and Ring 8.

Held at Russo’s on the Bay in Howard Beach, New York, the celebration took guests down numerous memory lanes of boxing history. Tears and laughter were shared as inductees walked onto the stage, often accompanied by members of their families, to receive their designer induction belts.

“These belts are one-of-a-kind, and distinguish us from all other organizations,” remarked Duffy. Designed by Sartonk Designs, they feature antiqued plates, sapphire crystals, and the exclusive NY State Boxing Hall of Fame medallion. As the Founder of the NYSBHOF, Mazzarrella was thrilled about the symbol of their organization: “The belt is just wonderful, just wonderful! What makes it wonderful is the silhouette of the Empire State Building with the boxing gloves draped over its shoulders. That’s NY!”

SARTONK was present on Sunday to salute the inductees, their families and congratulate the organizers for a memorable event. SARTONK President, Edward S. Majian, was recognized from the stage by Bob Duffy and expresses his appreciation for the opportunity to be part of the historic celebration. “This event is special to us because a Hall of Fame is about legacy and contribution.
