Follow on Google News | Social Media Week Asks You to “Instagram Your City”Worldwide Event Launches in 14 cities this September with a contest to honor the best user-submitted photographs that capture the uniqueness of each of the participating cities.
“As we continue to add new Social Media Week cities and expand to more incredible parts of the world, we are looking to fulfill the adage of ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’,” said Toby Daniels, Founder & Executive Director of Social Media Week. “As a celebration of the uniqueness of all of our local cities, the Instagram Your City competition will provide a way to tell stories that cross cultural and geographic boundaries.” People can participate by submitting a picture they’ve taken using a smartphone device that captures the uniqueness and essence of one of the 14 host cities, adding a filter with an app like Instagram, Lightbox, StreamZoo or Hipstamatic, and then tagging the photo using #InstagramYourCity together with the name of their city. Contestants are encouraged to share their entries on Twitter. Example: In the coming weeks Social Media Week will launch the Instagram Your City website, which will pull together the best photos. One “Best-in-Show” Deadline for submissions is June 30. For more information for how to enter, please email Nicky Yates at nicky@socialmediaweek.org.
