Local Runcorn and Warrington Businesses Fund-Raise for Little "Princess Paige" Higham

May 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Gary Ellison, owner of G. Ellison Builders in Runcorn and Jackie Hayes, owner of Purrfect Events, Daresbury, near Warrington are brother and sister. But that’s not all they have in common because they are both helping to raise funds for Paige and the charity.

Paige Higham is 5 years old and is severely disabled, blind and suffers from a rare form of infant epilepsy called West Syndrome - idiopathic. She can have over 100 seizures a day. Money is needed so that Paige can have her own sensory room; it’s an environment she is happy in and adores and it is a safe stimulating environment for her. It’s a place where Paige can relax and it could even help reduce seizure activity.

To help raise the money needed for Paige’s room – and also to raise money for “When You Wish Upon A Star”, Gary Ellison– together with pals Keith Flood & Dom Burnell - are doing a trio tandem bike ride. Steven Johnson will be riding the back-up support bike and the lads ride from Land’s End to Runcorn in 7 days, starting on Saturday 12th May.

Gary says ”We really want to raise as much money as possible for these 2 wonderful causes and so we have set up a “Just Giving” webpage to make it easy and secure for people to donate – we appreciate any donation from sponsors however large or small. We have already completed the Blackpool Marathon together and the bike ride is a new challenge. We know the ride will be tough and we’ll fall off the bike at least once a day – but it will be worth it!”

Meanwhile, Jackie Hayes – Gary’s sister – is organising a fund-raising party on the evening of Saturday 19th May, to welcome the trio tandem riders “back home”. Jackie is owner of “Purrfect Events”, a luxury marquee for hire in Daresbury which is in the beautiful Cheshire countryside and birth place of children’s author Lewis Carroll (famous for Alice in Wonderland).

Jackie says “It will be a really special evening with the £5 ticket price covering all food and entertainment. We are determined to help both Paige and the When You Wish Upon a Star children’s charity. We know how to make a party go with a swing and this is no exception, it’s a fantastic cause and I am so proud of my brother and his friends for what they have already achieved”.
