Google Places Replaced by Google+ and Zagat Merger

Google+ with integration with Zagat reviews results in the replacement of Google Places. Business owners now driven to take further notice of Google+.

As of May 30, 2012, Goggle+ Local, integrated with free availability of Zagat reviews, has resulted in the replacement of Google Places. Approximately 80 million Google Place pages all over the world have been automatically converted into 80 million Google+ Local pages, according to Google’s Marissa Mayer. Though this change is, by some standards, for the better, it will undoubtedly temporarily befuddle users and business owners.

Google Places (http://www.google.com/places/) will now be replaced by more dynamic Google+ Local pages and the formerly implemented Google star rating system, as well as the review system, will now be replaced by the Zagat 30-point rating scale.

Google’s merger with Zagat occurred nearly a year ago when the search engine giant purchased access to the original local reviews provider that have been in business for over 30 years. With the dissolution of Google Places, Google+ will inevitably gain more users, possibly even users that have been reluctant to begin using the Google social networking platform. "Google is hoping these new Google+ local pages will drive more users and businesses to begin using Google+ regularly," says Justin Maas, Social Media Account Manager at social media agency , fishbat, Inc. (http://fishbat.com/social-media-marketing/)

The integration of Google+ and the Zagat review and rating system will undoubtedly lead to a necessity for business owners to use Google+ as a tool for their advantage. Many are now compelled to pay attention to Google+ in a way that has been mounting since the networking platform’s release, which also involved SEO implications between business owners and Google+.
