Share the Day with Dad at Great Country Farms Putt Putt & Fish-a-Rama Competition 6/16 & 17

June 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Bluemont, VA – All ages can enjoy a fun and relaxing Father's Day Putt Putt & Fish-A-Rama Competition on June 16 & 17. There are no limits on play so golfers are encouraged to practice on our challenging putt putt golf course before competing against other dads and kids on Saturday at 10am. Set up a father & child team by emailing Jaclyn@greatcountryfarms.com. Winners will be given prizes and great photo opportunities! On Sunday, the half acre pond is stocked with catfish, bass and blue gill for catch and release fishing. Visitors can bring their own equipment but no licenses are required and live bait is available in the Country Store. See if you can catch the largest fish and/or take the power hour challenge. Have the chance to win a Fly Fishing Class with Dusty Wissmath who will also be doing a demo here at the farm! Six year old Jada Stack caught an 18” largemouth bass on her very first fishing trip. Her mom, Stephanie says, “she just threw in her hook with a night crawler from the store. It was all she could do to hold on to her pole while she yelled for help. Both of my girls caught the fishing bug that day”.

The warm spring has accelerated the growing season this year. Tart cherries are ripening and black raspberries are available. Kids love the five acre playground featuring farm style attractions like the giant jumping pillow, multiple rope swings and mazes, pedal carts and much more. Pet and feed the friendly resident animals and visit their babies. The farm’s signature Roosteraunt features BBQ, natural hot dogs, burgers, and fresh Kettle Corn from 11-4pm. The Country Store carries farm raised eggs with meat, dairy, produce, jams and relishes from local producers along with fresh baked goods. Other attractions include a ride on the cow train and wine-tastings at neighboring Bluemont Vineyard where you can relax and enjoy the panoramic view.
