Community Raises $17,000 to Give College Scholarships to Local Youth

June 7, 2012 - PRLog -- LINCOLN, Neb. – Residents of Grand Lodge at the Preserve care so much about higher education for local youth that they raised more than $17,000 for a special program to fund college scholarships. The residents at the senior living community formed the program as a way to give back and help foster a culture of excellence and achievement in the Lincoln area. The program has seen significant growth in its second year in funding, as well as in the number of high school seniors receiving scholarships.

The 10 high school seniors and recent graduates will be awarded the college scholarships at a presentation ceremony and luncheon. Lincoln Public Schools’ Associate Superintendent Marilyn Moore will be the keynote speaker.  The event takes place on Friday, June 8, from 11:45am to 1pm at Grand Lodge at the Preserve.

The scholarships will be awarded on different funding levels and are based on various qualifications. All recipients have worked at Grand Lodge and will be available at the ceremony to outline their college plans and what field they aspire to pursue.
