Endotoxins Hazards Exposed in New Online Video

June 17, 2012 - PRLog -- Today, the IAQ Video Network and Cochrane & Associates announced the release of another online video to help educate the public about issues that may impact their health.  The latest educational video discusses endotoxins.

Endotoxins are a type of bacterial toxin that is located in the cell wall component of the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria.   Exposure to endotoxins can be a real concern following a flooding or sewage contamination event in an indoor environment.  Bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella, and Helicobacter, which are often associated with these events, are all Gram-negative types of bacteria.  

“All mammals can be affected by endotoxins,” reported Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates, the company behind the IAQ Video Network and the new public outreach video.  “Severe reactions including fever, decreased blood pressure, inflammation and coagulation in humans have been associated with exposure to these toxins. We hope this video helps to educate people about these microbial toxins.”
