The Excellent iPhone 4S-A Closer Look At The User Interface On This Model

June 22, 2012 - PRLog -- Since Apple launched their first iPhone back in 2007 the devices have always been a big hit with consumers everywhere.  One of the most attractive elements of these models is the excellent user interface that helps the user to navigate their way around the phone.  We take a look at this aspect of the iPhone 4S, the newest iPhone on the market.

For a model that boasts such a cutting edge design and jaw dropping specification the iPhone 4S offers a very basic and simple user interface although we would argue that this is one area of the phone where less is more.  Rather than clutter the UI with active widgets and complicated layouts the phone uses a very simple interface that simple comprises of a grid of 16 icons.  Each of these icons represents an app or piece of software on the phone which is simply touched to access.  With such a wide range of applications available from the iTunes App store most users will require more than 16 icons so the phone automatically creates another page as and when it is required.  To flick between pages a simple horizontal swipe on the screen is required.  Beneath this grid is another row of four icons but these remain the same whatever screen you are viewing.  The purpose of this row is to allow the user to leave four of their most frequently used apps there so that they are easily accessible at all times.

Despite the homescreen layout remaining similar to previous model the iPhone 4S does offer some interface improvements in other areas thanks to the iOS5 software that it incorporates.  With the sheer volume of applications that are available a new notifications centre has been added to this model to enable users to easily keep track of incoming alerts and messages.  These notifications can range form a basic notification of incoming e mails or SMS messages to comments posted on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.  In the settings menu of the phone users can select what items they want to receive notifications from and the new centre can be accessed with a downwards swipe of the finger from any screen on the phone.  The lock screen has also undergone some improvements and the camera feature can now be easily accessed from the locked phone and notifications can also be easily read.  Users of the Music function can also control music playback without needing to unlock the device.

The iPhone 4S is a superb mobile device and much of the appeal of this handset lies with the wonderfully simple interface that it uses.  The simple Home screen system is easy to navigate while the new notification centre provides a great way to keep up to date with what is happening in the world around you.
