June 22, 2012 NEW YORK – NY-5. Attorney and Room Eight political blogger Howard Graubard, also known as Gatemouth, endorsed Mike Scala for New York’s 5th Congressional District seat. Scala is campaigning to win the Democratic nomination in his home district in the Tuesday, June 26, 2012 primary election. In a very thorough assessment of the candidates entitled “This Meeks Shall Inherit The Wind, For He Troubleth His Own House (Of Reprentatives [sic])”, Gatemouth writes, “Scala has actual coherent thoughts on the issues, and generally his heart is in the right place.” Graubard, former Attorney for the State Senate minority, was the 2008 Democratic National Convention Designated Blogger for New York State. Describing himself as “the man New York politicos love to hate,” Gatemouth pulls no punches in his snarky but well-informed and in-depth analysis of New York politics on the political blog Room Eight. Scala also recently received the endorsement of The Wave, Rockaway's largest newspaper. New York’s new 5th Congressional District consists of southeast Queens, including the entire Rockaway Peninsula, and parts of Nassau County.
